Florida History Along the Withlacoochee River with Captain Mike Tracy:
The Second Seminole War was the bloodiest and most
costly Indian War in U.S. history. It lasted almost 7 years from 1835 to 1842.
It began with an attempt by the U.S. government to move all Native Americans in
Florida West of the Mississippi River.

You can travel with Captain Mike Tracy along the
Withlacoochee River where in 1835 approximately 250 Seminole Indians, attacked a
force of 750 U.S. Soldiers led by General Clinch. The soldiers were forced to
withdraw because of the large number of casualties. It was at this point that
the Second Seminole War became a serious concern to the U.S. government.
